A gargantuan Forest surrounds the city of Rastaban in a dense, forbidding expanse.

Those who touch the Forest or venture into it come back changed. Their blood made of sweet sap. Their actions strange and alien.

Nor is the Forest content with keeping to its bounds. It is fast. It is constantly shifting and expanding.

The Forest takes who it can. If left unchecked, it will take everyone.

That is why we call it the Forest of Loss.

To help manage the constant threat of the Forest, the Foresters Guild was founded.

There are certain rare and ill-starred individuals who enter the Forest and emerge unscathed. These individuals are recruited into the Foresters Guild, safe from the fear and superstition of society.
